Our journey with Korovuto Village began in 2018, when we were first introduced to this amazing community. By 2019, the bond between Ryde Rugby Club and Korovuto Rugby Club had been forged, and it has only grown stronger over the years. This year, we were honoured to return with a group of 40 to continue this meaningful partnership.
During our visit, we were warmly welcomed into the village by the Chief in a traditional kava ceremony. We proudly provided Korovuto’s first-grade rugby team with a full new kit, rugby balls, and sports apparel, including jerseys and boots for the wider village community.
This year’s tour held special significance as we remembered two incredible individuals who were part of this journey. In 2022, Korovuto lost Brus Baleirara, one of the original founders of this tour. In 2023, we lost Mick Snell – great friend and founder of CMS. These losses brought our clubs and families closer together. This year, the tour was continued in their honor by Brus’ sons, Cecil and Junior, and Mick’s wife, Charmain, and son, Jaiden, who joined us.
A heartfelt thank you to Viti, Uncle Tony, Cecil, and Junior from Discover Fiji, who looked after all our travel arrangements and ensured everything ran smoothly. We also extend our gratitude to the other sponsors CMS Contracting & Plant Hire & Tectonic Pools, who joined us again as major sponsors—your support means the world to the Korovuto village.
Together, we’re celebrating the power of community, connection, and the unifying spirit of rugby.
